Strumhor B&B

Tell us a bit about yourself; what made you start providing accommodation? What was it that made you choose your property in the very beginning? We wanted to live by the sea and offer peaceful and quality accommodation to visitors from all over the world. Our house overlooks the Fall of Lora, the sea, hills and islands and is the perfect location for its sister business, sea kayaking.

What do you think are the main reasons your guests choose your accommodation? The views, the comfort and food and the welcome we offer.

What do you think are the main reasons why visitors come to your area? Oban offers so much: boat trips, wonderful scenery, good food, trips to the islands, the distillery, historical sites, and peace and quiet.

What do you think makes your accommodation stand out from the crowd?
We have a varied breakfast menu with all food freshly prepared and I offer tea and coffee with home baking on arrival; the views are second to none and it is spotlessly clean.

Where do you like to eat or drink (close to your accommodation)? What do you recommend on the menu?!
The Oyster Inn is just round the corner, a three minute walk, and in Oban itself we recommend Coast restaurant for fine dining or Ee-usk for its seafood.

What’s your favourite place to go in your area that you think people should try and visit?
The walk on the island of Kerrera is beautiful and the trip out to the Treshnish islands to see the puffins is one of my favourites, as well as the Three Islands tour by CalMac

Do you have any advice you want to give to people coming to stay in your area?

From Tripadvisor:
This is an outstanding place to stay for a visit to this fascinating part of Scotland. The hosts, Olga and Tony, are very friendly and obliging and offer much of the ground floor of their beautiful house for the use of guests: two comfortable and well-appointed guest bedrooms, a lovely conservatory overlooking the Falls of Lorn, a very comfortable lounge and separate dining room. There is plenty of information about the local area as well as an extensive and comprehensive library. The breakfasts are beautifully cooked to order, with a different and delicious ‘special’ each day, such as Eggs Benedict or Smoked Salmon Soufflé.
